Professional Background
Kristin has more than 15 years of healthcare experience in a variety of capacities: community outreach, corporate communications, program development, provider relations, project coordination and patient education, first for Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska (now Premera Blue Cross), and most recently for Seattle Children’s Hospital. She realizes she began her healthcare career in high school, as a hospital “candy striper” – delivering lab and diagnostic results to patient units, among other tasks, and working at a corner drug store, filing paper charts. Those experiences offered numerous real-life examples of the need for EHRs for patient safety, greater efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and continuity of care.

Motivation
“I have had the privilege of being able to combine my passion with my vocation: helping develop strategies and systems for ensuring access to quality healthcare. While I believe that EHRs, like other technological advances, will address issues such as a safety and efficiency, I also see the significant impact they have will have on healthcare access and equity.”

Personal
Kristin lives in Seattle with her husband and two children. When not at work, she can be found reading, puttering in the garden, or dreaming about future travel adventures.
