John Hartgraves
WIREC Technical Operations Manager
johnh@qualishealth.org
Professional Background
John oversees consultants in both Washington and Idaho who provide strategic consulting to primary care practices in the adoption and meaningful use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs). John has over 20 years of cross-functional team management, healthcare system implementation, and emerging technology development experience including physician order entry and electronic medical record systems for large integrated networks.
Motivation
“Health Information systems are good at tracking large amounts of information, and when coupled with actionable reporting, can have a dramatic impact on care delivery. Until recently, robust EHRs were only available to hospitals, large systems, and integrated delivery networks. With advent of Meaningful Use and certified systems, small ambulatory practices now have the opportunity to harness these tools. When the opportunity to work with the Regional Extension center and assist practices in the adoption of EHRs came along, I jumped at the opportunity to make a difference where it counts.”
Personal
John is originally from Lovington New Mexico, and a graduate of Texas Tech University school of Business. Motivated by his love for trees, mountains, and alpine lakes, he made the trek to Seattle fifteen years ago. He met his wife Melanie in Seattle and the couple resides with four “four-legged friends,” Riley, Lily, Gwendolyn, and Simon. When they are not fixing things on their old house, John and Melanie can be found cooking, traveling, hiking in the mountains, or practicing the Tango.
